Searching Entity Files

The Search Files panel lets you search within the content of entity files. It is displayed by typing Alt Ctrl F at any point, by selecting Tools > Search Files from the menu at the top of the designer, or by clicking the  icon on the toolbar at the top of the tree. The results of the search are displayed in the Search Results Panel.

 

 

Initially all search options are set from the previous search.

 

Containing text: enter the text to be searched for. You can also enter an ‘*’ to represent any group of characters or a ‘?’ to represent any single character. Previous searches can be selected from the dropdown list.

Case sensitive: if checked only exact case matches are shown

Regular expression: check this to indicate that the search text is a regular expression

Whole word: if checked only whole words that match the text are shown

 

Restricting files to be searched

You can restrict the search to specific projects and/or specific entity types.

 

All projects: check this to indicate that all projects should be searched (the word All is shown below) or..

Specify projects: click the Choose.. button to select one or more projects

 

All types: check this to indicate that all entity types should be searched (the word All is shown below) or..

Specify types: click the Choose.. button to select one or more types

 

Search Results Panel

This panel contains the results of a search. By default it is located at the bottom left of the designer but can be relocated to another location by dragging the title bar.
